Monroe was a beauty icon partly because she was a fantasy constructed by the Hollywood studio system and partly due to the frailty and darkness that she kept hidden inside. She was a woman who wanted to be loved and yet she was a women that everybody loved-note the irony….sadly being pretty on the outside does not mean one is happy or beautiful on the inside. This is often important to remember- beauty is only skin deep…and never judge a book by its cover. So be happy in who you are- in your skin and don’t judge others because often they will not be the person you have assumed them to be!
